Saint Rita of Cascia was given the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes, while in many Catholic countries, she came to be known as the Patroness of abused. Since I am not finding consolation and relief for my suffering anywhere, with complete trust I come to you because you were chosen by God to be the advocate of desperate cases. Rita endured his insults and abuse for 18 years. She greatly desired to be a nun but was married at the age of 12 to a wealthy, cruel and immoral man. I beg you to relieve my heart of the anxiety that closes in on it and to return peace and calm to my tormented spirit, which groans with great desolation.
